Nikanor Unplanned Outage_Boil Water Advisory

This is a courtesy message from Carolina Water Services, your local water provider for Nikanor Subdivision at 1-800-525-7990.

Due to the effects of Hurricane Isaias, customers may experience periods of low pressure and or outages in the distribution system. We are closely monitoring the situation but are currently unable to safely access our well because of conditions at the bridge crossing. Once safe access is available, crews will begin restoring the water distribution system.

Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increase the potential for back siphonage and the introduction of bacteria into the water system.

As a precaution, we recommend that you vigorously boil water for 1-2 minutes before drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing your teeth, or washing dishes. As an alternative, bottled water may be used. The North Carolina Division of Water Resources Public Water Supply Section has been contacted concerning this event.

The precautionary boil water advisory will remain in effect until a satisfactory bacteriological survey is received. Customers will be notified by a second phone notification message once the boil advisory can be rescinded.
