Charlotte, NC – September 4, 2026 – Carolina Water Service of North Carolina (CWSNC) recently completed approximately $8 million in upgrades at the Fairfield Harbour Wastewater Treatment Plant, enhancing the reliability and long-term performance of a critical community asset.

The project included upgrades to the wastewater treatment process, installation of new piping, pumps and blowers, improvements to monitoring and control systems, and reconditioning of treatment tanks. The improvements modernize key components of the facility while supporting continued environmental compliance and operational efficiency.

CWSNC President Don Denton said, "Most people never think about what happens after they flush a toilet, and honestly, that's the way it should be. Our job is to make sure customers can trust that the wastewater system is operating as it should every day. That trust is important to us, and why we work hard to proactively and prudently complete needed upgrades."

The treatment plant improvements are part of CWSNC's ongoing commitment to maintaining and strengthening water and wastewater infrastructure throughout Fairfield Harbour. In addition to the completed treatment plant project, the company is advancing lift station improvements and evaluating future initiatives focused on system reliability, water quality and wastewater collection system performance. Planned and ongoing projects are designed to improve resiliency, reduce service interruptions and support reliable service for customers.
