Preparing for Hurricane Isaias: What Our Customers Should Know

Oct 08, 2026

  • Health & Safety

Hurricane Isaias is expected to bring heavy rainfall, flash flooding and strong winds to our area over the weekend. Your safety and the continuity of our services are our top priorities. As we closely monitor the storm's development, we want to reassure you that our teams are taking proactive steps to help support reliable wastewater service.

Tips to Prepare Before the Storm

  • Check your emergency supplies. Keep at least three days of drinking water and nonperishable food for everyone in your household. Include medications, a first-aid kit, batteries and copies of important documents.
  • Charge your devices. Fully charge cell phones, portable battery packs and any other essential electronics.
  • Secure outdoor items. Bring patio furniture, grills, trash cans and other loose objects inside, or tie them down so they don't become dangerous in high winds.
  • Clear drainage areas safely. Remove leaves and debris from gutters and nearby storm drains so rainwater can flow away from your home.
  • Know your flood risk. Never drive or walk through floodwater. Just six inches of moving water can knock you down. Remember: Turn around, don't drown.
  • Make an evacuation plan. Decide where you would go, how you would get there and where you would stay. Make arrangements ahead of time for children, older adults, people with disabilities and pets.

How You Can Stay Informed

Conserve Water After the Storm

  • If your area loses power, please limit your water use until power is restored. Our pump stations and many home systems need electricity to move wastewater.
  • If your home has a grinder pump, keep water use to an absolute minimum until power returns. When the power is out, wastewater collects in the tank but cannot be pumped out. Once the tank is full, wastewater can back up into your home.
  • Avoid laundry, dishwashers, baths and long showers, and flush as little as possible. Never put grease, wipes or other non-flushable items down the drain.

In the event your area loses power, we will work closely with Alabama Power to restore power to any of our facilities that are affected and get systems back to normal operation.
