Drought Restrictions

Utilities Inc. of Georgia values providing safe and reliable water, which means preserving our water supply sources. When drought stages are enacted, we take great responsibility in upholding our value of Environmental Stewardship.

Drought conditions throughout the state have prompted the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) to declare a state-wide Drought Response Level 1. This drought response is designed to reduce overall water use and maintain a steady water supply across all water sources in Georgia. Stay informed about drought monitoring in Georgia by viewing this map.

The Drought Response Level 1 suggests limiting outdoor watering for irrigation and other needs between 4 PM and 10 A.M.  There are many other ways to contribute to reducing your water usage, such as:

  • Regularly check for, and repair, water leaks inside and outside your home.
  • Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth, shaving, and face washing.
  • Only run the dishwasher and washing machine when you have a full load.
  • For more suggestions, visit the Water 101 Conservation page.

Small, thoughtful changes in your daily activities and habits, combined on a large scale, create a big change. Every drop counts and every person can make a difference.
