Utilities Inc. of Louisiana recently began a significant investment project to replace over two miles of water main in the French Settlement service area. Work has begun along Highway 444, north of Highway 16. Please be careful when traveling in this area, for the safety of workers and motorists.
Over $1 million will be invested to replace about 2.25 miles of 4-inch asbestos pipe with 8-inch PVC. Work includes installing the new water main, and after installation, conducting important water quality testing before transferring service lines to the new main. The old main will be retired in place.
Customers in this area will receive communication when we are ready to transfer their service lines, as water service will need to be temporarily interrupted.
