Investing in Your Utility
Alabama Water Utilities is making critical investments to upgrade local wastewater systems. Last year, about $14.5 million was invested, and this year, approximately $16.9 million of investment continues, including over 3,700 feet of sewer main installation.
Investments include, among others:
• Upgrading the North Shelby plant to support increased flows - plant capacity will increase from 3 MGD to 4.5 MGD.
• Expanding the Morris plant to improve treatment processes and meet current and future growth needs.
• Expanding the Shelby Ridge wastewater treatment plant capacity from 1 MGD to 2 MGD to meet community needs.
• Upgrading the Brookwood wastewater treatment plant to enhance reliability and sustainability.
